JROTC

JROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps. It is a military regulated high school program whose purpose is to educate high school students in leadership roles while making them aware of the benefits of citizenship. The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to become better American citizens.

The SAR awards the Bronze JROTC Medal to foster the principles of the “citizen-soldier”, exemplified by the Minutemen of Revolutionary War days.

This award is presented by a Chapter to a cadet who is selected for having a high degree of merit with respect to patriotism, leadership, military bearing, scholarship and general excellence. The recipient is selected by the Senior Military Instructor (SMI) of the JROTC unit, who is given full latitude in making the selection.

The SAR JROTC Medal is approved by the United States Army, the United States Navy, the United States Marine Corps, and the United States Air Force.
